Sinopsis
“The Anthology of Legends from Wondama West Papuas” is a captivating collection of folk tales and legends from the Wondama Bay region in Papua, Indonesia. In “Vindonari and Air Bah,” the reader is introduced to a resilient mother and her children surviving a catastrophic flood, guided by mythical birds and a divine figure. “Kuri Pasai: A Simplified lified Tale Tale” recounts the adventures of two giants and la a child born of unusual circumstances, highlighting the themes of deception, rivalry, and the consequences of one’s actions.
The stories continue with “The Snake Wokui and the Brothers Samiri and Mandow,” a tale of bravery, unity, and the eternal struggle between good and evil. “The Legend of Iba: A Family Divided explores themes of anger, forgiveness, and the mystery of human origins, while “Manseren Bekuni: The Man Who Lived Twice” offers a story of rebirth, sacrifice, and the enduring spirit of a legendary figure.
The collection also includes the haunting tale of “Swanggini: The Legend of the Cave,” where the bones of a giant fisherman are believed to lie, and “The Meeting of Clans in Roon: A Tale of Two Tribes,” which tells of the peaceful union and ultimate survival of different clans.
